Musical Director

In 1992, I suggested to my husband, Barry, that I needed a hobby, as I wanted more than just work, television and sleep to fill my time. Barry knew a work colleague, by the name of Eileen Lander, who "sang in a choir", so he had a word with her. The result of that conversation was that I turned up at Colne Harmony's rehearsal night without a hint of what a wide world I was entering into. I started in the Bass section and was soon singing on the risers with a whole new group of friends.

In the following years I progressed through Social Secretary, Secretary, Chairman and Choreographer until becoming Assistant Musical Director in 1999. When June Goodridge stepped down as Musical Director in June 2001 I took on the mantle. Since then I have taken the chorus to LABBS Convention three times, and we have won the chorus award at the Leigh-on-Sea and Southend Music Festivals.

As Musical Director I feel I am on a constant learning curve, but with the chorus' help I am enjoying every minute.
